An Atlanta native, Kathleen McDaniel brings with her over 18 years of industry experience to the Indigo Road team, where she currently serves as the executive pastry chef the group’s four Atlanta restaurants – Oak Steakhouse, Colletta, O-Ku and soon-to-be Donetto. In her current role, McDaniel is responsible for overseeing the overall creation, execution and production of pastries and desserts along with training and managing the full pastry staff.
McDaniel began her culinary career working with her mother for a catering service when she was just 13 years old. In 1996, she went on to attend Johnson & Wales University where she graduated with degrees in culinary arts and baking and pastry arts. Since then, McDaniel has worked with Atlanta’s Roy Yamaguchi, a well-known Asian fusion pastry chef, Buckhead Life Restaurant Group, Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse and Harvest Bistro & Bar in New Jersey, during which time she received national acclaim from The New York Times, which named her as “a rising star” whose desserts were “so venerable they belong in the Louvre.” An avid member of the culinary community, McDaniel has additionally worked closely with national organizations such as Share Our Strength, Chocolate for Cystic Fibrosis, The James Beard House, Table to Table and Les Dames d’Escoffier Atlanta Chapter.
McDaniel currently resides in Alpharetta. In her spare time, she enjoys golf, gardening, baking with her daughter and spending time with her husband and stepson.
